Cell

An evanescent wall piece designed to infuse a sense of peace and calmness.
The pieces seem alive, pulsating with a suttle colour transition, recalling the slow, floating movement of primordial unicellular organisms.

Inspired by the form of the cell, with its central nucleus and organic, fluid outline, Cell lamps are hypnotic glass and light sculptures where the boundaries between these two medium can no longer be distinguished.

Glass itself becomes a source of light, with the undulated edges of the blown pieces catching the light from the led strips, resulting in shimmering waves of light floating in mid-air.

The fluidity and intuitive nature of the glass blowing process, inspired the creation of flared, irregular forms recalling the organic outline of a cell. The pieces are hand blown, shaped with a paddle to create smooth waves and undulating folds. Once cooled, the bases of the glass pieces are cut off, leaving a circular edge through which to shine LED light.

Glass - used as a medium to project and reflect digital light - is the actual source of light of the pieces.
